Case Study Snapshot: Divorce Decree Failure to Survive Insurance

A 57-year-old businessman going through a contentious divorce was seeking $750,000 of term life insurance to satisfy the divorce decree.  Due to a long history of alcohol abuse and several unsuccessful in-patient rehab stints, the client was unable to secure any coverage through traditional domestic life carrier channels.

His insurance agent reached out to Petersen International for assistance in helping find a suitable death benefit alternative that could address the divorce decree needs.  We were able to employ our Contract Indemnification Failure to Survive product to provide the $750,000 death benefit on a simplified-issue basis.  We required that the ex-spouse be the policy owner and beneficiary as we successfully fulfilled the insurance requirement of their divorce decree.
