Mexico Travel Solutions

In a predawn raid in central-western Mexico on February 22nd, the infamous leader of a Jalisco-based drug cartel named Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed “El Mencho”, was killed in a gunfight with Mexican military forces.  In retaliation, drug cartel members and associates around the country have staged organized attacks on governmental facilities, assaults on military personnel as well as disruptive acts of arson and roadway blockades in many tourist areas throughout Mexico.

The brazen acts of criminality and violence in public areas led to the closure of schools and airports throughout several Mexican states.  Last week, the U.S. government issued a “shelter in place” advisory for all Americans currently in that country.

Although Mexico is a perennial vacation and business destination for millions of U.S. residents every year, cartel violence, kidnappings and criminality are unfortunately ever present.  Fear and uncertainty for travelers is right now at an apex.  However, Petersen International has several insurance solutions, including coverage for war and terrorism, to help bring peace of mind and financial security for those taking trips to our neighbor to the south.

  • Kidnap & Ransom insurance is available.  The coverage provides valuable options for ransom reimbursement as well as access to a professional crisis response team that is experienced in hostage negotiations and bringing clients home safely.
  • Travel Medical insurance is available.  The coverage includes important benefits for emergency medical evacuation and repatriation back to the U.S. as well as accidental death and trip cancellation benefits.
  • Travel Accidental Death insurance is available.  The coverage provides a lump sum benefit in case of death or dismemberment which are accidental nature including acts of violence by others.
