Case Study Snapshot: Chiropractor DI
A 34-year-old chiropractor just opening her own private practice was rightfully aware she needed to be well insured. She recognized how physically demanding her job could be and disability insurance was a priority. In addition to her own personal income, she was concerned with the financial protection of her fledgling business and her new employees as well. Her advisor suggested a personal DI plan and business overhead expense coverage which would cover the company’s overhead in the short term in case she suffered a total or partial disability.
The advisor and the client knew which insurance products they wanted. Finding a viable outlet was another story. An occupation historically heavy in disability claims, chiropractors frequently struggle to find willing insurers in the domestic market.
Fortunately, the client’s advisor found his way to Petersen International. Utilizing specialty market carriers, we were able to provide the young chiropractor with “own occupation” long-term personal disability insurance, covering 65% of her income as well as the BOE cover she was looking for.
