Case Study Snapshot: Guaranteed-Issue Disability
An employee benefits specialist found that a large corporate law firm client, with offices throughout the country and several hundred partner attorneys, had immense gaps in their group disability benefits and greatly varying benefit levels amongst the partners. Nearly half of the attorneys had insufficient levels of income protection, which was not acceptable to the managing partners nor to the firm’s HR director.
The benefits team turned to Petersen International for help. We were able to implement a two-part GSI disability plan that was layered on top of their existing group and individual disability benefits to properly cover the partners with gaps in protection. We employed a mandatory layer of $25,000 monthly benefit per person as well as a voluntary option with benefits up to an additional $100,000 per month.
The coverage was provided to them on a guaranteed-issue basis, and the busy clients didn’t have to schedule or take part in any troublesome exams or labs or answer any medical questions. And the firm was able to provide the partners with incredible disability benefits at highly discounted rates.
