Case Study Snapshot: Impaired Risk Disability
A 53-year-old corporate executive was making $350,000 annually. He was wanting to secure $17,500 per month of benefit through a traditional disability income policy. Due to an extensive medical history, he was being turned down for disability insurance by every domestic carrier his agent approached. He was moderately obese, suffered from Type II diabetes which was at the time under good control. But he also had a history of myocardial infarction several years prior. Quite a difficult case as he was uninsurable through traditional insurance channels.
His agent turned to Petersen International for help. We were able to successfully underwrite and issue him a long-term, own-occupation, Lloyd’s disability policy for the entire $17,500 per month with health exclusions for diabetes and the cardiovascular system.
