StarCover…Back In the Spotlight

ActressFounded only a few miles from the famed Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California, Petersen International is deeply rooted in the entertainment industry.  For more than 35 years, we have been privileged to write high-limit disability insurance and specialty life coverage on the who’s who of Tinseltown.

Several decades ago, Petersen International developed the first U.S. high-limit DI plan specifically for those who make a living in the film, television and music businesses.  The product was aptly named StarCoverSM, providing income protection to actors and recording artists, but as importantly to the men and women behind the scenes including producers, editors, cameramen, agents, and any other occupation you might come across in the field of entertainment production.

The product prospered under the StarCoverSM moniker for many years, but as insurance platforms evolved and marketing ideologies changed over time, Petersen International rebranded the coverage to broaden its appeal.  The program was renamed Entertainment Industry Disability Insurance and the name “StarCoverSM” faded into obscurity…until today.

We are pleased to announce the triumphant return of StarCoverSM to Petersen International and to the American disability marketplace.  The product has had a complete makeover, modernized and refurbished for today’s showbiz clientele.  The new focus of StarCoverSM is fiduciary security and income protection of the Hollywood elite – the talent in front of the camera and behind the microphone.  Those working behind the scenes can still find excellent coverage through Petersen’s Entertainment Industry Disability Insurance Plan, but StarCoverSM is now available just for the stars.

The new plan boasts a true “own occupation” definition of disability as well as the richest monthly and lump sum benefit schedules available in the industry.  What explicitly sets the new StarCoverSM apart from the rest of the market is its optional “disfigurement rider.”  A sensational breakthrough, the uniquely designed “disfigurement rider” provides primary benefits to a client who has become irreparably maimed or scarred due to an accident or sickness, but is still physically able to work and isn’t considered disabled under traditional industry definitions.

The new StarCoverSM disability program is back in the spotlight, and will once again be a beacon of financial protection and peace of mind for the famous faces of Hollywood.  To learn more about the new plan and its special options contact our DI department at (800)345-8816.
