Insights to International Major Medical Insurance

A person in the art and science of selling insurance cannot be alive and not know many people who have a need for and who will this year buy International Medical Insurance from someone.

It was reported in a previous issue of THE COMMUNICATOR that nearly 100 million persons will travel outside their home country this year and will have a need for International Medical Insurance.

  • Up to $5,000,000 for U.S. Residents traveling or living outside the U.S.
  • Up to $1,000,000 for Foreign Nationals while in the U.S.

These are limits enjoyed by many people while at home. Why should they not have the privilege of these same limits while away from home? Yet, the greatest number of people, out of unawareness, or out of lack of attention by a professional purveyor of insurance, buys limits of $10,000! This would not cover an emergency air ambulance from Park City, Utah to Detroit!

The Travel Industry sometimes offer this misleading coverage to their clients for two reasons:

1- The carrier has convinced them this is a good product to sell because it includes lost luggage insurance and trip cancellation insurance. It is easy to write up and all other travel agencies handle it.

They want cheap insurance so the ticket sale is not lost because of price, and they feel they have dispensed a moral obligation to offer something.

The professional purveyor of insurance will recognize the futile basic plans offered through the travel industry and advise their clientele of the fallacy of the $10,000 medical maximum vs. $5,000,000 and that . . . . . . . . . Lost Luggage, Trip Cancellation, Emergency Return Home, Global Medical Transportation, Repatriation and Accidental Death are all included in our INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL PLANS.
